Community Guidelines
Effective October 9, 2026
YouView is a place to share videos, discover something new, and join the conversation. Help keep it a place people enjoy visiting. These guidelines apply to videos, thumbnails, channel graphics, comments, bulletins, messages, and other material you contribute.
Be part of the community
- Keep sexual content off the site. Do not post pornography, sexually explicit material, or content intended for sexual gratification. Sexual exploitation of children is never allowed.
- Do not encourage harm. Do not promote dangerous acts, abuse, self-harm, or violence. Do not post graphic violence simply to shock viewers. Clearly explain the purpose of news, documentary, educational, or artistic material so the administrator can consider its context.
- Respect other people. Disagreement and criticism are welcome; threats, stalking, targeted harassment, and incitement to hatred or violence are not. Do not attack people because of characteristics such as race, religion, nationality, disability, sex, or sexual orientation.
- Respect privacy. Do not expose someone else's home address, private contact details, account credentials, or other sensitive information. Get permission before sharing private recordings. Do not impersonate another person or deceptively present a channel as theirs.
- Share honestly. Use titles, tags, descriptions, and thumbnails that describe what viewers will actually find. Do not flood comments or messages with advertising, manipulate views or votes, distribute malware, or use the site for scams.
- Respect creators. Upload material you made, have permission to share, or are otherwise legally entitled to use. This includes music, images, and clips inside your video. Crediting a creator does not, by itself, give you permission.
Flag problems responsibly
Use the available Flag or Flag for spam controls to report a problem. For copyright, privacy, or a concern that needs an explanation, contact the administrator with the page address and relevant details. On this local instance you can also speak to the administrator directly. Do not include passwords or unnecessary sensitive information.
A report asks for a review; it does not automatically remove content or issue a strike. The administrator decides what action is appropriate. Multiple reports do not make acceptable content a violation. Do not organize abusive flagging campaigns.
Strikes and account termination
YouView keeps Copyright Strikes and Community Guidelines violations as two separate strike counts. A strike is active for 90 days from the time it is issued, unless the administrator revokes it.
Three active strikes of the same type within a rolling 90-day window permanently terminate the channel. Two copyright strikes and one Community Guidelines strike do not combine into three. Termination makes the channel and its videos unavailable and prevents use of the account. Expiring or revoking strikes does not automatically restore a terminated channel.
The administrator may also remove material or restrict accounts for serious abuse without waiting for three strikes. Do not create another account to evade enforcement.
Understand a decision
Check Account status for your active counts, reasons, dates, and notices. A terminated user receives a notice when attempting to sign in. Email notices depend on email delivery being available.
If a decision appears mistaken, contact the administrator with your username, the affected video or comment, and an explanation. Reviews are handled manually. Requesting a review does not pause enforcement or guarantee restoration.
Read the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy for the other rules that apply to using YouView.
